Alanno – Atti di Stato Civile (Indices): 1850-1860

Recently, all the civil records for Alanno (and nearly all the other towns of Pescara) from 1809-1910 were published on the website of the State of Pescara, so there is now a wealth of records to sift through. To make it easier to search through the record images available on the website, I’ve begun indexing records for many of the towns in Pescara surrounding Nocciano and Civitaquana, mostly to see how the families in the comuni have moved around. Eventually I’ll be posting selected record transcriptions for individuals that have Nocciano and Civitaquana ancestry. If you would like help with any research on Alanno, feel free to email me at

The comune of Alanno is located in Pescara and has a population today of about 3,700 people. It doesn’t share as long of a border with Nocciano as does Rosciano or Catignano, but it does touch a sliver of it, which explains some of the migration between the two comuni. You actually have to drive through Alanno to get to Nocciano from the highway.

The main overlap between Nocciano and Alanno is the Matarazzo family, who moved from Nocciano to Alanno in the early 1800s, and before that, were from Collecorvino. Another very common name in Alanno is d’Orazio, and the entire d’Orazio family in Nocciano can be traced back to Pasquale d’Orazio (who was born in Alanno around 1761 and married Domenica di Rupo from Nocciano).
