While most people usually go to Rome, Florence, Venice, etc. on a trip to Italy, I went to Pescara. The rest of the first week was spent exploring the “city”. I was surprised at how few people were actually out and about, but got used to the fact that from 2-4pm, everyone is home sleeping, stores are closed and that on Sundays….NOTHING is open.
Lots of traffic circles (or the Boston equivalent “rotaries”), impatient drivers, bars that are really just coffee shops, and people wearing jackets in 60-70 degree weather. From what I’m told, the nice fall weather in Italy is too cold – though we in New England cherish weather that is above 60 degrees…so I was very comfortable to be able to escape to this for two weeks!
